Knights Soar Atop the Met2009-09-21
Knights Sweep and Put on Show in Philly!
After last weekends showing in the Woodchuck Classic the Knights were confident they had a good squad, and after this weekend in Philadelphia they know they do. The Knights came out firing in game one vs. Hampton Roads last years Met South Champion. However you wouldn’t have known it after their game it was a one sided affair with the Knights out shooting the Whalers 44-14. The Knights captured game one 4-1 with goals from Day, Coffey, McEachern, and Cope, and a solid showing from Kevin Carr between the pipes.
Game two was much of the same against the Washington Little Caps. The Caps game in on fire with and undefeated record and blowouts in their three previous games. However the knights were quick to put that fire out when Cope scored less than a minute into the game from Lansdowne and Durrwachter, and that wasn’t all the scoring the Knights would get they went on to win 8-0 in a whitewashing. Lansdowne and Cope with 4 points a piece and Karstens and Shanley both picking up 3. Oliver Evans picking up the shutout on 17 shots.
The Knights would close the weekend out with the Palm Beach Predators who are currently ranked fourth in the nation. This was suppose to be the Knights first true test in the young Met regular season but once again they proved to be no test to the high powered Knights. The Knights took it to the Predators from the get go scoring early and often in a 9-2 victory. The line of Cope, Durrwachter, and Lansdowne proved to be no match for the Predators. Cope having 5 goals and an assist, Lansdowne picked up 4 assists, and Durrwachter much of the same with 3 assists. However this wasn’t the only line clicking for the Knights they were firing on all cylinders with Dylan Coffey picking up his third point in as many nights, and Tommy McEachern with a tremendous bat it out of the air to cap the scoring for the Knights. Kevin Carr once again played stellar between the pipes for his second victory of the year.
The Knights will look to do much of the same next week when they go on the road to visit Hampton Roads Whalers. You can watch these games live on fast hockey if you would like to follow the Knights and their run at a national championship.
