Coach Schneider enters his second season behind the Knights’ bench after a successful inaugural campaign which saw the Knights win the SEJHL Championship before bowing out in the semi-finals of the USA Hockey Jr. C National Championship. Schneider brings a lifetime of hockey experience to the Knights, including five years of junior hockey experience in the United States and Canada. At 15, he played for the Fitchburg (Mass.) Wallopers of the New England Junior Hockey League before moving on to the Massena (N.Y.) Turbines of the Central Junior “A” Hockey League. Following that, Coach Schneider played with the Cornwall Royals of the Ontario Hockey League, which included two seasons under future NHL Coach-of-the-Year Marc Crawford. Coach Schneider also played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with St. Jean-sur-Richelieu and Chicoutimi.
Coach Schneider went on to play or the Birmingham Bulls of the East Coast Hockey League before attending McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, where he played three seasons of varsity hockey and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in North American Studies in only three years. While at McGill, Coach Schneider won a Gold Medal at the Maccabiah Games in Metulah, Israel, for Team Canada, a collection of junior, college, and professional players led by another NHL Coach of the Year, Jacques Demers. After graduating from McGill, Coach Schneider finished out his professional hockey career with the Columbus Cottonmouths and Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League.
Coach Schneider then joined the Cottonmouths’ management staff for the 1999-2000 season. Following that season, Schneider was promoted to Assistant General Manager and he served in that capacity with the Cottonmouths until 2002.
In 2004, Coach Schneider earned a juris doctor from Georgia State University College of Law, where he graduated fifth in his class. Coach Schneider is a litigator with the national law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP.
Coach Schneider resides in Alpharetta, Georgia, with his three boys Alec, Evan, and Ryan.
